MagCAD Wahoo Elemnt Ace Offset Insert - M3 20mm

This MagCAD offset insert allows the large Wahoo Elemnt Ace to be fitted to shorter out front computer mounts.

Overview

This MagCAD offset insert replaces the insert on compatible out front computer mounts, moving the interface forward 22mm to allow more clearance for the large Wahoo Elemnt Ace. The 22mm offset leaves the lower edge of the Wahoo Elemnt Ace at a similar distance to your handlebars/stem as a medium sized Garmin Edge device like the 540.

This insert is designed to fit out front computer mounts that use the common M3 (3mm) securing screws at 20mm BCD - hole centre distance, in a circular four quadrant pattern. K-Edge being typical of this bolting pattern but also many others. See the attached CAD drawing for reference to these key dimensions as well as further details below.

This insert is designed specifically for the shape of the Wahoo Elemnt Ace, providing a wide and secure base for the computer. It will not suit other Wahoo devices such as the Elemnt Roam and Elemnt Bolt.

Application

This insert can be secured with either two or three screws, depending on how many threaded holes are available in your out front computer mount. The securing screws are M3 (3mm) threads and are at 20mm BCD - hole centre distance apart, in a circular four quadrant pattern. The base of the insert which fits into your out front mount has a diameter of 33.8mm and a depth of 4mm. See CAD drawing for reference.

Fitting the MagCAD insert is a simple process but requires care to ensure your Wahoo Elemnt is kept safe and secure.

1. Remove the original insert from your out front mount.
2. Install the MagCAD insert with two or three M3 countersunk screws, supplied.
3. Check to ensure you have proper thread engagement; at least 3mm of undamaged threads per screw.
4. We recommend using a thread locking compound like Loctite to secure the screws and avoid overtightening.
5. Install your Wahoo Elemnt Ace with the normal eighth turn motion.
6. IMPORTANT: Secure your Wahoo Elemnt Ace to your handlebars with a tether or lanyard, typically supplied by Wahoo.
7. Periodically check the insert remains tight and secure.

It is very important to understand and appreciate that the Wahoo Elemnt Ace, at 208 grams, is very heavy for a cycle computer. As such, some out front computer mounts and even some integrated handlebars are not strong enough to handle the generated forces, particularly with more severe riding such as gravel and MTB. It is your responsibility to make sure the complete assembly is strong enough and robust to your particular use. Always use the tether supplied with your Wahoo Elemnt Ace as backup.
